K-12 competition
Last year (2011) we organized the first Ceramic Competition for school kids from grades K-12. The response was amazing, as we had over 70 children participate: from Home Schools, Puchi Art Studio, Inc., Coral Reef High School, Howard Drive Elementary, Palmetto Elementary, Palmetto Middle, Ransom Everglades High School, South Miami Middle and Southwood Middle.
Teachers from the Miami-Dade schools and Members of CLM mentored the children throughout the whole process. The results were spectacular and culminated in an exhibition held at CLM on January 20th 2012. A very large crowed attended to cheer these budding artists on, when awards were given out. Students who placed in the competition will have their work entered for jurying for the National K-12 exhibition at NCECA. http://nceca.net/static/conference_home.php.
The goal of The Ceramic League is to continue to make a difference in the ceramic arts and education. With the help of donations and supporters we will continue to see improvements in promoting personal growth through classes, as well as inspiring our ceramic artists to create more work.
